The true education of composers is on its biggest and most essencial part not to be found on texts or videos , but training and ORAL coaching.
Here is a worksheet I made for a student.
The lesson is not there, but in his fingers and memory.
Most people waste tons of money on offline courses where the teacher is not even LIVE and present; they have ZERO idea about how the classic education of a music composer works.
They are more influencial than the most respected music theorists of the last century and build a generation of decadent composers.
Never in history people ignored the canon and embraced musical stupidity with so much passion.
It goes even so far that “communities” (actually “anonimous marketing bubbles”) are created just to hold a mutual support of reciprocal exchange of ignorance, pure materialist consumism, and an intensive work in lowing the standards of the musical art.
The consequence of this is the “hack culture” : a radical antidote to its most pathological contrary – the superficially complex and overly collectivist academic lesson.
The whole intelectual foundaton of musical art in our social media era got this way reduced to nothing more than fragmented , desperate, uncontextualized and unrelated tips focused on selling the SENSATION of learning by maximizing reach and sacrificing EXACTLY THE SAME PHILOSOPHICAL DEPTH that made this art financially valuable in first place!
This culture does nothing else than trying to desperately compensate the lack of an oral tradition – the only place where a composer’s individuation actually happens, even when he walks away and decides to study by himself.
