Basics skills in reading music and understanding scales and chords is the minimum required for anyone aspiring to become a professional someday (I am not speaking about being called one).
By the way, what is a professional? Many people can’t answer this question, and I also struggled with this for a long time, but I finally do: the professional is the one who not only can do, but the one who knows the technique – not only of what he does – but also the technique of others and the traditions of his own art in order to repeat some type of results and – principally – expand them with greater success and geniality possible (because human actions are aimed towards an infinite Idea that regulate the never ending, the never satisfied will) .
Because he can repeat great results and knows his technique, the professional can trade this to the next generation. A professional is always a potential teacher: he never relies in sayings like “just do it and you will learn it somehow” or “see how I do, it is here…”
Now…do you need to become a professional in order to earn money with music nowadays? Of course no. In today’s era we have something that I call “the amateur professional”. But let us leave this question aside for my course Philosophy for Composers…
Here is the quiz that should help you answer where you are. But this is just a fun and very tiny start. For a responsible assessment of where you are regarding my learning map you need a personalised consultation, where I meet you considering all aspects of your musicality.
This quiz assesses understanding of fundamental harmonic fields. Mastering these concepts is crucial for any aspiring composer or musician starting a solid foundation in harmony. If you find this hard, NO PROBLEM , I am here to help ; )
Price (see “Payments”) , duration from 30 min. to 2 hrs.
The price includes quick chat before and after, on Zoom or Patreon
The consultation is awesome for self-taughts who face a moment of chaos or is “stuck”.
Contrary to what many teachers apparently think, the first meeting/lesson is for me the most important (this can’t be free!) ! This can’t be for free, because I am serious about you so much as I am about me.
We will:
To book a consultation, one needs to be a supporter of the Kompositorium channel on Patreon, contributing for the lowest tier of 5$
What if I do not have time to practice regularly?
If there is no other time, we practice in the lessons. If the practice in the lessons requires specific prerequisites, we focus on theoretical topics such as analyzing scores, audios, or music in movies. For MIDI mockup, you start something from scratch, or you watch me solve a problem specifically related to your learning needs. For Eartraining, active practice is required. For Harmony on Piano, we can exercise more during the lesson or you watch me do. For Analysis, Philosophy of Music / Music History, we undertake deep analysis and text reading without requiring previous preparation. HOWEVER: YOU SHOULD PRACTICE AND STUDY AS BEST AS YOU CAN! This is YOUR DUTY AS A FUTURE PROFESSIONAL. Otherwise, consider that you might not be in the right profession!
I cannot commit to all Lesson-Courses. Which discipline should I learn first?
Based on years of experience in composition and guiding students, a foundational learning sequence is recommended. This framework also considers the “maximum minimum” for daily practice and lesson effectiveness. The consultation and the following lessons aim to place you in this flexible sequence of learning:
Minimum Patreon Support $ is condition for the Consultation / Lessons
